initialconsultationVisit Dr. Scott Keller Chiropractic for an Initial Consultation

We look forward to sharing our decades of holistic health experience with you and helping you to achieve your holistic health goals. If you have a specific area of concern, or if you ascribe to a philosophy of regular adjustments to optimize longterm health, visit the NYC or Long Island offices.

How long will the initial consultation take? What happens during the consultation?

Please schedule at least an hour for your initial consultation. During this time, you will:

  • Fill out a health history and status questionnaire forms
  • Draw areas of discomfort on pictorial descriptions of your body
  • If applicable, answer insurance or Medicaid questionnaires
  • Discuss your health goals with Dr. Scott Keller

An initial physical exam of your whole spine, areas of concern, and suggestions for any other complimentary procedures or tests, such as X-Rays, will be given. You do not need a referral from your primary care physician to visit a licensed chiropractor, however, check with your insurance regarding their requirements for re-imbursement. We will additionally recommend general lifestyle tips and guide you in your habits toward whole health.

How often do I come? What is my follow up plan?

“The Mercy Guidelines for Chiropractic Quality Assurance and Practice Parameters recommend an initial treatment period of 2 to 4 weeks, with the likelihood that visits could be as frequent as three times per week.” We will work with your schedule, personal health assessments, and your personal goals to suggest an appropriate follow up schedule.

How much does an initial exam cost? How much does a chiropractic follow-up cost?

Our initial consultation is $95; whereas a typical visit can range from $45-20 depending on insurance co-pay.

For more information on costs and insurance compatibility, please call the office in Manhattan at (212) 691-7690 during our opening hours, Mondays 1-7 PM, Wednesdays, 5-8PM, and Thursdays 1-7PM. We take most of the major insurance policies, but since it is a complex system, we'd rather talk to you on the phone first.

drkellerpractice3Where am I adjusted?

In the heart of Chelsea, NYC, you will be greeted by soft music and a friendly staff of A.R.E. practitioners. In Long Island our practice has serviced the community for more than 15 years and is located on 2805 Veterans Memorial Highway in Ronkonkoma. You will be adjusted in a private room, where your muscles are heated for 10 minutes with a heat pack to relax them. Our chiropractic tables, flexion tables, allow Dr. Scott Keller to  perform wide range of different adjustments.

What is an adjustment?

"Adjustments" are usually the central part of chiropractic treatment. The chiropractic adjustment is a therapeutic manipulation that uses controlled force, leverage, direction, amplitude, and velocity directed at specific joints. In other words, an adjustment involves a lot more than simply opening up a joint. Dr. Keller will most often make these adjustments to the spine, but he might adjust other joints, such as the ankle, knee, wrist, elbow, or shoulder in order to restore structural alignment or to improve joint function. Again, proper structure is necessary for proper function, and proper extremity function is an important part of healthy daily living.

When being treated for a complaint such as back or neck pain, you will most likely receive a series of adjustments, separated by either a day or a few days, to incrementally reduce the irritation and improve normal function. This might continue for several weeks, usually diminishing in frequency.

If you can't tolerate the manual adjustments, you may instead receive mild or non-force techniques. Dr. Keller will go as gently as needed.

Adjustments are often accompanied by non-manual therapies such as application of heat or ice, electrical stimulation, orthotic supports for your shoes, rehabilitative exercise, counseling about diet, weight loss, and other lifestyle factors, and nutritional supplements.

oc-chiropractor

I’m sitting in the waiting room, feeling anxious and hopeful. I’m looking forward to introducing myself to Dr. Keller, and explaining that I am seeking an alternative chiropractor that will not “crack” my bones. I have already noted on his website that Dr. Keller “utilizes many Edgar Cayce remedies in his practice, including spinal manipulation, applied kinesiology, therapeutic stretching, eucalyptus oil, moist heat, nutritional planning, and massage therapy.” I have a fracture in my spine from a 50-foot fall when I was 8 years old, a restricted understanding of chiropractic, and a deep hope that I have found someone who can help me, (my way).

Dr. Keller enters the room with his characteristic, unique presence, deftly sets the record straight, and puts me at perfect ease while manipulating and realigning my spine, my neck, and my belief system. During the course of my treatment, in addition to running again, unexpected areas of my life shifted into well being and healing. What is it that makes Dr. Keller and his approach to healing so successful?
